Approach to setting up a dedicated Remote Development Center (RDC)
Boot-Strap Phase
The Boot-strap phase determines the business and technical requirements behind setting
up the Offshore Development Center, documents the business processes and captures
application knowledge so that the services can be carried out effectively. This
initial phase also defines the operational processes for the Offshore Development
Center, defines the structure for knowledge transfer and establishes project infrastructure
requirements like data communication links etc. The deliverables of this phase are
an assessment document, project plan and definition of the project infrastructure.
Load Phase
The objective of this phase is to load the Offshore Development Center with work
packets (project phases which can be scoped as discrete entities and can be executed
in the Offshore Development Center). This requires knowledge dissemination and implementation
of the operating procedures in the Offshore Development Center as defined in the
Assessment Document. A pilot may be executed as a proof of concept before the Offshore
Development Center implements the next phase.
Operational Phase
This phase provides fully-fledged services from the Offshore Development Center.
During this phase knowledge is accumulated, processes improved and controls established
to ensure that Service Level Agreements are met.
